Even though this information is viewable from within the MacAddict Tour interface, we've been getting tons of letters asking us "Who's the band?". The Real is a three-piece outfit of driven, young musicians. Originally hailing from New England, high school friends Ryan Cunningham and Dan Dudziak (guitar and bass duties, respectively) moved to San Francisco in 1996 to pursue their music careers. Not long after, they met up with drummer Alex Bowman, also from New England, and The Real settled into the rigorous writing, practice, and performance schedule that has so far yielded them over two hours of original music. The band is explosive live, powered with genuine, unaffected energy. The Real has achieved in a relatively short time what most other bands never do: accumulating their influences into a single ideal and creating a distinguished sound. Fisher is the first music success story of the Internet. The duo’s songs have been streamed and downloaded from various Internet sites nearly 2,000,000 times in the last year, and they are the first artist signed to a major label because of its New Media success. Fisher’s first big break arrived via a soundtrack. The gold album for Great Expectations, the 1998 film starring Ethan Hawke and Gwyneth Paltrow, included Fisher’s “Breakable” alongside tracks from Tori Amos, Scott Weiland and Iggy Pop, among others. Now there’s True North, featuring the new songs “Human” (“about not becoming a victim,” says Kathy), the darkly amusing “Miseryland” and the cheatin’ tune “Simi California.” Of course, great artists utilize tools that help them express their emotions - turning feelings into songs. "I honestly don't think I'd be where I am today if it was not for Macintosh computers. I've been using them loyally since 1989, when I obtained my first real steady gig scoring television. Throughout the years as well, every single Fisher song we've written was created on a Mac. The new CD "True North" was recorded and mixed entirely using Pro Tools and Mac. How much do I love Mac's? Orbital Danger was written on 3 different Macs. First, the sequencing was done on a G3 266 (beige). Then it was stolen by a bunch of guys (along with the rest of my studio) that I had invited over (care of the recycler) to buy a console. It was replaced with a G3 B&W 450 which finished the sequencing process. Mastering was completed on my G4 500. All tracks were recorded through a Motu 2408 and a Mackie D8b into Emagic Logic Audio. Samplers used were 3 Kurzweil K2500s, JV 1080. Libraries used were the Seidlaczek Advanced orchestral brass, Spectrasonic's Burning Grooves, Heart of Africa Vol1., Distorted Reality Vol 1,2. Mark Edward Lewis is a film/TV composer residing in Los Angeles. He specializes in blending diverse styles into cohesive sonic tapestries using both samplers and instrumentalists. He is also keyboardist/producer of the band Monterey Blu, and has several records to his credit. Mr. Lewis' operates a recording studio in his house.

Digital Droo has appeared on a number of MacAddict CD's since 1998. The first song was a neverending loop of a Christmas tune called "Santa Goes Shopping." Since then, he has upgraded his arsenal of instruments and recording gear to compose a variety of electronic music. A CD of his music is in the works (seemingly forever), but an mp3.com "D.A.M. CD" is available now. Titled, "The MacAddict Years," the Mac-centric CD featuring voices from the editors of MacAddict, has sold well for something that was, for the most part, unadvertised. Ever the quintessential Mac addict, every Digital Droo song is composed and recorded on a Mac. After cutting off two feet of his hair and hanging up his guitar, Droo became the master in his own musical universe powered by a Mac.
